June/July Assignment

So I talked to Jeri about doing the assignment this month. With the 4th of July fireworks coming up, it would be a great time to do a slow-shutter speed assignment. For the assignment, try to take some photos using a slow shutter speed to capture motion. Here is a quick example from when I was messing around with my camera at the Ocean City boardwalk. The shutter speed was about 1 second, capturing one of the spinning rides.

Part II of the assignment, use the same slow shutter approach to capture an image in low light. Post your best one or two for each part of the assignment. Also, we thought it would be fun to meet at night this month to practice taking low-light/motion photos. So please vote on what night would work for you and what location you'd like to carpool to for shooting photos. Locations: Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Chinatown or suggest your own. Both the memorial locations are close to large bridges that should allow for the capture of moving cars at night. Chinatown might be nice for capturing nightlife - the Verizon Center is a little Times Square of light at night PLUS we could catch a snack at either of my two most highly recommended restaurants. Nights: July 9, 10, 14, 16, 17. Below are some links to articles to help you with the assignment.

self-portrait and sequence photos

Of all the pictures I took of myself, the one below was my favorite. My face is bright and a bit washed out almost, but I like how my eyes look so green (could probably enhance that more in photoshop..oh well) and I love Cameron with his ball in the background.

Playing today in the rain. I didn't edit these too much and I didn't do a great job putting them all together. The image on the far right has a little white border in between it and the pictures on its left (I didn't realize until I'd already saved and closed it out). Oops! The Picture on the far right is a little fuzzy, but it was still my favorite shot of him looking at the camera.

KJ sequence assignment

Good tip from Corinne on paneling, then processing - only my old, clunky computer sure didn't like processing on all those photos at once. Can we say SLOW. Anyway, here is my baby, pouncing on a ball. He loves balls. It was his first word besides "ma."
