April Assignment

So, in case I don't make it back from Germantown in time to make it to photography group here are your two assignments for this month:

1. Shoot a self portrait - use a mirror, self-timer, a tripod with a remote button, hold the camera in front of you, whatever you want! Try different kinds to see what captures you the best.

2. Shoot a sequence - a series of pictures that tell a story - at least 3, no more than 5 - have your child build a block tower and his progress, take pictures of your child having a meltdown because you are taking to many pictures... :) take pictures of the dinner you are making...It doesn't matter if you take the pictures within seconds or weeks of each other as long as they are a definite, recognizable sequence.

If you have any questions let me know!

beautiful day....

Yes, today turned out to be a beautiful day. I just keep telling myself that the playground and grass would have bet too wet this morning for the little ones that have to attend with their mommies.

We are meeting Tuesday the 28th at 6:00 at Lake Elkhorn. Let's meet at the playground. Bring your cameras, the majority of the time will be spent shooting!

I hope that I will be able to come without the kiddos. If we have to bring our children they are welcome. They can be models! =)

I hope you got outside and got some shooting in today. I did, I filled an entire card.

Here is a recap of the assignments just in case you haven't done some of them.

#1(September) Lighting, 3 windows
#2 (October) One object, 12 photographs AND Images that tell a story about you.
#3(November) Photograph a situation AND Shadows AND Reflections
#4(January) Warm colors (RED, ORANGE, YELLOW)
#5(February) Cool colors (BLUE, PURPLE, GREEN)
#6(March) Perspective

Erin is going to be doing the assignment for April. It is going to be a fun one! =)

Thanks everyone,
Jeri

KJ photo panels

I've got some good photo collages now for our family album. Great assignment.

Sitting: 1/400 shutter, 2.8, 50mm. Close-up: shutter 1/125, 5.3, 165mm (I would never have used this lens if I had planned it ahead of time). Running: 1/1250 shutter, 3.2 , 50 mm (shot while running to keep up with my egg hunter - I should get points for sacrificing for the photo... maybe if I had my longer lens on I wouldn't have had to run so much.)

A little break from the kiddie photos. Steve has become quite the chef lately. This was my attempt to capture him at work... though he wasn't much happier of a subject than my kids for my painful photo torture process :) Chef shot: 1/125 shutter, 1.8 (to block out the clutter on our counter), 50mm. Close-up: 1/80 shutter, 3.5, 500mm.

Food closeup: 1/800 shutter, 3.2, 50mm. Same specs for shot of Steve.

Postpone.....

Hey everyone,

I am going to postpone photography group until a later date this month. The rain has made everything too soggy, and even with a little sun in the forecast tomorrow it will still be too cold. Sorry for the short notice.

We could meet at the church, but what I had planned for tomorrow needs to take place outside. ( I am tired of shooting indoors.)

What dates at times look good to all of you? We could do next Tuesday but not in the morning (family history group is meeting then).......maybe we could meet in the evening. Evening light is my favorite. Cross our fingers for nice weather.

Talk to you all soon. I have loved seeing all the pictures that have been posted recently. Great stuff. I will comment soon!

Assignment 6 - Perspective

I took these using my 50mm, f3.2, 1/1600 shutter. My only problem with this assignment is that I kept forgetting to take the "normal" shot! I would do my perspective shot and end up with lots of crazy stuff and nothing so much normal to go with it. :)

Assignment 6

What a fun assignment! Now I have to exercise self-control to not make collages out of all my pictures.

I'm Baaaaaaaaack.

So, I'm going to haunt you from Utah-land and still be in your group. Too bads for you. :)

I am finally finished with my cool colors pics. For some reason these color-inspired shots are not so inspiring for me! I didn't love my warm colors either, but it sure does make me think about things. One day I'll have FABULOUS color studies. Anywho . . .

GREEN
This is a swing in Jake's backyard in Oregon.
Does it look a little sad? I was trying to be more nostalgic . . .

PURPLE
Best I could get, folks.

BLUEI have others a little more blue in volume,
but this one was the bluest in focus.
So it wins.
There they are.

And now for my two-panel collage. I made six of these to choose from and I just couldn't figure out which one! They all had problems, and they all had something I liked, so it was hard. I have them all on my photography wannabe site, and I'll post them in our flickr group so you can see the others, but I'll just close my eyes and point to choose one for the group:

Oh, I couldn't decide. Since the baby gets all the glory, I'll put one of each of the boys, just to be fair.

Ethan Beach Time
So, here's my Ethan digging and running. Not really a different perspective of the same thing, but same event at least. Don't look too closely. In the first shot, I took a girl off Ethan's nose and I didn't do a great job.

Jeffy Beach Time
I like this collage because the pictures work together, but the shot is from behind each time, so not the best perspective one. I have one of him with the soaked picture after the wave hit him, but, well, I just chose, ok?

If you go look at my other ones, tell me which you like best--or go ahead and look through my flickr pics and show me which ones would make a better collage.

I'll fix sizes and put specs in later. I'm late picking up kids.

Assignment 6.1

Here is my first attempt. These were impromptu shots with my wonderful guest model, with no preparation and using my camera as is. Photojournalism rather than portraiture-a moment captured. I played around in photoshop a bit to liven them up, so I'm interested in opinions of the two versions.

playing catch up

I actually have been doing (most) of the assignments! I've just been a tad bit lazy when it comes to getting them online. Here are snippets of the assignments-- I think it'd be too long if I did all of the pictures for ALL of them! For the time being, I can't figure out where in photoshop I look to see the photo information! Sorry... maybe I'll be able to add that later. I'm excited for this current assignment by Corinne! It's already in progress, I'll put it up soon!

Cool color assignment:

RED assignment (I never did the other two colors...): I picked this because it is always one of William's favorite features of a playground.

Shadow assignment: I took this picture several years ago at my dad's house in the redwood forest in northern california.

Photographing the same image 12 times: I picked a pomander ball that my mom gave me. As a little girl I loved and cherished anything that was MINE, especially things given to me that were my parents or grandparents.

Assignment #1: Light. This picture was at the beginning of a tantrum! I am sure I took more pictures for this assignment, but can't remember which. Oh well!
